News from the Chair, August 2019

Friends of Liberty,  It's a pleasure to share with you some highlights of what's been going on with the Libertarian Party of King County.  Community

  • As shared previously, our Thaddeus Russell event drew a large and diverse crowd to hear a message that simultaneously challenged and embraced libertarian ideals. As a result, we've drawn attention from similar organizations (like Liberty on the Rocks) who are interested in doing similar events.

  • Our Liberty Talks and Liberty Supper Club events continue to host a strong line-up of compelling speakers. Keep an eye on our FB pages for information about upcoming events including speakers from the cannabis industry ... and in September, we'll be hosting the (in)famous Tim Eyman at Tutta Bella in Bellevue.

  • We're co-hosting a summer BBQ and volleyball "grudge" match with our SnoCo LP friends on Saturday, August 10th in Kirkland.

  • We've previously shared that State Insurance Commissioner candidate Anthony Welti is passing out election- and liberty- related materials at HempFest. Please drop by, say hello, or volunteer to help!

  • We continue to work with Libertarian and liberty-curious candidates to assess their bona fides heading into the general election season. Now that the primaries are behind us, you'll be hearing more from the candidate growth committee about our efforts, including the King County LP voters' guide.

  • R-88, a referendum petition which LPKC endorsed, got enough signatures to guarantee its place on the ballot alongside Initiative 1000 in November. We've built a strong bridge with Washington Asians for Equality and did our part helping them to collect signatures by promoting their efforts on FB and at our events.

As always, your comments, feedback and suggestions are welcome, as is your attendance at our monthly Executive Board Meetings, which are also advertised on FB.
